@eigenrobot The problem with that is several cases recently have determined there's no privilege w/ AI so if you're like... discussing your case w/ it it can be discovered. and that would be problematic.
Positive users see AI aiding pro se work like demand letters and agency reports, while negative users warn it risks self-sabotage, lacks privilege, overwhelms courts, and erodes legal protections.

@eigenrobot At some point who knows maybe yes, RIGHT NOW it's more like AI makes it much easier to shoot yourself in the foot

ooof

@eigenrobot Short answer: No.

@eigenrobot Probably not entirely because I think going pro se makes cross examination hell for you. But certainly more so than before.

@eigenrobot I think it's already fucked it up with their ability to overwhelm small county courts with shitloads of filed motions.

@eigenrobot It's also making lawyers less competent though so maybe it balances out.

@eigenrobot are DAs allowed to print out boxes of documents and ship them in place of a digital copy?
if so, certainly not.

@3ph3m3r1s @eigenrobot Moot at this point, there are services which scan and do OCR on any document dump at a reasonable price

@eigenrobot that being said it's awesome for just being sub-litigiously shitty, writing demand letters e.g.

@eigenrobot Yes.

@eigenrobot Its gonna be so successful that they try to make it illegal, but the naysayers will be washed away by a tsunami of litigation issuing from legions of matroshka entities.

@eigenrobot From what I've seen actual lawyers cover AI topics? Not anytime soon for major cases. Might help with some simple filings in the short term though.

@eigenrobot I looked into it a tiny bit more and there's apparently some light left seen through the doorway so it's possible but recent cases suggest at least a mild disfavor for it.

@eigenrobot The Death of Law will be ushered in And a dreadful new power will take the reigns

@eigenrobot Gotta admit this is how I feel about pro se sometimes.

@eigenrobot Hopefully. One of my most optimistic dreams for AI was that it would accelerate and improve the accuracy of reports to agencies like SEC, FTC, or IG. We have so many systems of feedback and accountability that go underutilized, so they are far less effective than we expect.

@eigenrobot lol not anytime soon I can confidently say. People can’t use it in a hearing yet.

@eigenrobot It will likely make it more entertaining.

@eigenrobot Is that viability? Probably not, but it makes lawfare viable, even if winning isn't in the cards.
