Critic Dismisses Claims Of State Funding For Chinese Open AI Models

3 posts> Chinese open models are funded by the state holy shit the cope never ends, does it? I wonder, when the Japanese Detroit'ed American auto industry, was it also common knowledge that their state funds Toyota? Or is this different?
Chinese open models are funded by the state. American frontier models are privately funded. Releasing open models restricts American labs' pricing power, making it hard to sell equity/debt to fund future models. This: 1. Shifts the frontier away from the US 2. Potentially disrupts the datacenter buildout in the US. Arguably the US would be in a recession without 0.5-1T/year in AI capex functioning as fiscal stimulus. Frontier labs are a major buyer of compute; if their business models no longer function, then the assumptions supporting the extent of the datacenter buildout could be invalidated.
DeepSeek Moment was awkward. The denial, disbelief, 50K HOPPERS – all born out of politically expedient mythology about the crushing computational costs of "true frontier" in the US. To this day, the doctrine lives, hence "CCP must be subsidizing open labs". Will it ever fall?
If Americans understood the margins on inference, understood how fraudulent all this "we need trillions to keep up R&D! billion dollar training runs!" bullshit is, they'd be torching lab employees, not subscriptions. Bubble, subsidized, DeepSeek Moment… all covers for grift
