150 mathematicians warn governments not to “believe the hype.” At the same time, Field Medalists like Terrence Tao are impressed by the capabilities of programs like GPT-5.5 Pro, which solve numerous problems.
Among my acquaintances who aren't active in the AI community, there's still a lot of skepticism. For them, AI is simply a chatbot. I think a lot more education is needed.
