@Andercot A lot of 50hr parts on some helos. The original tail rotor half hubs on the CH-149 Cormorant started cracking anywhere from 5-16hrs. The parts were redesigned and need inspection every 50hrs. So I’ve heard.

@Andercot I want to build a cyclic pitch rotorhead one day with electric torque motors on each blade rather than pushrods and stuff in order to do the blade pitch control. Plus then you can add harmonics to the blade pitch cycling and improve lift capacity and efficiency.

@Andercot They have helicopters that do not use the swash plate system. You can just have the blades flap and that’s enough. But none of that is inherently dangerous, even when run past their lifespans, those parts have lasted way longer than they were rated for.
