Horowitz Andreessen Academy opens applications for tuition-free founding class

The Horowitz Andreessen Academy has opened applications for a one-year, tuition-free fellowship expected to bring about 50 young builders to San Francisco in September 2027. The school says a16z incubated it and is investing $35 million; founder Gagan Biyani says the company raised $42 million overall. The program centers on self-directed projects, practitioner-led courses and time working inside a company, though placements are not guaranteed. The school is not accredited and awards no degree or college credit. Fellows must pay for housing, food and other living expenses, though need-based help may be available.
