I actually find it really surprising that people are willing to work for anthropic. I'd expect ML researchers to be pretty smart.. at what point do they realize that they are being lied to? That the reasons for the behavior they're given aren't true?
Positive users praise joining Anthropic for its exciting mission while negative users accuse the company of cult-like behavior and lying to ML researchers about its true intentions.

If you're there to collect your IPO bag, I get it. Money is cool I guess

Im just often surprised when I meet people that believe the stated intentions of their exec superclass when the real goal is so obvious.. autistic people are easy to manipulate

Like it isn't surprising to me that they do work for anthropic, I'm sure it's a great place to work at, exciting and fun. I'm surprised when the reason to work there is some priestly moral reasoning... look around bro lmao no one is donating the money
Like hello .. Claude's in the kill Israeli Palantir mega kill chain ... Claude's running on Elon musks giant gaming computer ... You think this is about safety dawg aahahahhahahahhahahahah

@yacineMTB I'm not sure it's autism. There's a very large number of people that just have a total disregard for looking at actions and outcomes, and constantly take people at face value. Null hypothesis for motives is "good intentions" and ideals to explain behaviour, not just self interest

@yacineMTB Technocrats gonna technocrat
It’s not that they are being lied to. It’s that they think they should have the power.

@itsstevenmartin Not really

@yacineMTB money

@yacineMTB Satan’s recruiting pitch will always find someone willing to ignore the warning signs...I just assumed the same thing as @simonthenoob , the orgies made it all worthwhile - HHOS

@yacineMTB And no, this isn't autism. It's a very cultural thing. Ultimate distillation of western high trust prosociality. As defenseless as little dodo birds before the machinations of the real world

@yacineMTB autistic people are not easy to manipulate imo they are easy to brainwash
normie is not easy to brainwash, but easy to manipulate
tell them it matters not if you are happy and they shrug tell them their happiness depends on number in bank and they go grinding

@yacineMTB Bro’s on his Terry Davis arc.

@yacineMTB it's the same discord mod energy. the non money seeking ones want to be arbiters of thought and anthropic lets them larp as machine god priests

@yacineMTB Or perhaps most of them like Anthropic models better and don’t care about the ethics. Not like you’re any better off with hitman Sama

@yacineMTB The problem with cult behavior is that you dont see it. When youre wrapped up in it the faults are justifiable for the mission.
Takes heavy outside influence and internal strife to get out.

@yacineMTB Many of their employees buy into the whole Effective Altruism / rationalist philosophy, which is at the core of the company's obsession with global control of AI. Also the doomerism.

@yacineMTB Intelligent does not mean wise or socially apt.

@yacineMTB Certain types of """intelligence""" can [tie knots] that it [can't untie]. In fact: mutual cognizant definition.

@yacineMTB pre-IPO equity does things to a nigga
