OpenAI Rolls Out GPT-5.6 Sol and Luna in ChatGPT
OpenAI gives Plus and Pro users GPT-5.6 Sol for every chat and adds a reasoning slider while expanding Luna access for free users.
OpenAI posted that GPT-5.6 Sol now powers both Instant and deep reasoning modes for ChatGPT Plus and Pro subscribers, replacing separate experiences with one model. Free and Go users receive unlimited text chats with GPT-5.6 Luna starting the next day. The company also released an updated GPT-5.6 system card and introduced a slider that lets users adjust how much the model thinks before replying. Official statements note the new Sol version produced 68 percent fewer factual errors than GPT-5.5 Instant in internal tests covering finance, medicine, and law. I'm confused as to why this does not seem to be on OpenAI's Deployment Safety Hub with other system card resources, and why it is formatted in a different style than usual. There had been progress recently towards the DSH being a one stop shop
