Databricks acquires Row Zero to put governed spreadsheets inside Genie

Databricks has acquired Row Zero and plans to make its live spreadsheet a native interface inside the Genie AI coworker. The companies say users will be able to explore, model and collaborate on enterprise data with familiar formulas and pivots while retaining Databricks permissions, lineage and audit controls. Deal terms were not disclosed. TechCrunch reports that Databricks' finance team had already paired Row Zero with Genie, and that Row Zero raised $10 million in 2025 at an estimated $40 million valuation.
