haven't read a thiel story in the press that wasn't basically just fan fiction in something like a decade, and every time another steaming pile drops every single one of you "based shitposters" gobbles it up

Eric Newcomer countered that Thiel may welcome the mystique.
Many users backed Mike Solana's claim that Thiel press coverage is decade-long fan fiction because it relies on distortive secondary sources and false narratives, while a few praised specific profiles as exceptions.

i love my parents so much but a very radicalizing incident for me was in 2024 when they were pearl-clutching over thiel’s support for republicans and i simply asked “tell me a single thing peter thiel has done, tell me one thing he has done” and they couldn’t name anything. the media has successfully made his name synonymous with evil, you can simply invoke it and stoke fear in people’s hearts.

@micsolana Level with us Mike, is the alien hybrid army being raised in brickle or is it wynwood

@micsolana It’s all catnip for a specific type of person

@micsolana Personal recent fav is: Thiel concerned about US direction, asset confiscation, currency debasement, etc so he flees to…Argentina?!?! I lived in BsAs and love that country, but a beacon of property rights and economic/political stability it is not.

@VirtualElena @micsolana I had a silly acquaintance who boycotted our friend’s wedding just because Peter was coming. So ridic

@micsolana Personally my favorite is when said Based Poasters seem to be under the impression he’s jewish, leading to all sorts of fun commentary

@VirtualElena @micsolana Like never looking up primary sources and only ever trusting secondary ones that spread clearly wrong information. Their entire ecosystem is made up of secondary sources of this sort. That's what the mainstream media *is*.

@VirtualElena @micsolana You'll find this method works for pretty much everything with liberals that are willing to answer actual questions.
"Why are you mad about this?"
"Because it's bad."
"Why?"
"Because of this."
"Wait, who told you that?"
"They did."
"Ok? They were wrong. You can look it up".
@micsolana have to think running around talking about the antichrist... he's a little ok with some of the mystique... get him on the newcomer podcast! agree dialog paranoia is pretty silly

@VirtualElena @micsolana Liberalism, understood in one sense, is literally just media illiteracy. They believe things that are demonstrably false because they've been trained to employ various methods that hide their delusion from them.

@VirtualElena @micsolana Part of my transformation from Democrat to Republican was a dinner table conversation in 2020 when my Dad asked me what I disliked about Trump and his administration and I didn't have a concrete factual or policy based answer

@micsolana People rally around the caricatures of villains we map onto others. It’s the only permission they get to hate without guilt.

@micsolana I hope he enjoys reading all these conspiracy theories about him.

@micsolana The only good one was ‘The Generalist’s’ profile a year or so back.

@micsolana we just want to see Peter to play Mafia

@micsolana The problem with Thiel is that he doesn’t do even half of this stuff

@micsolana It's — it is — um — it's, it's, um — well — let me — it's — I, I, I — there's several different things one could say — it's, uh…

@micsolana Did a new story drop?

@micsolana You still read the press? Why? I check the WSJ occasionally I guess but generally just get my news from here or asking Grok voice while I'm in the car

@micsolana there's no sincerity left in tech
