LinkedIn was already slop. All that's changed is that it's now AI slop.

Many users are disgusted by LinkedIn's shift to AI slop because it fills feeds with pompous, bot-like posts they find cringeworthy, uninteresting, and a waste of time.

Endorse.

This is true across social. I’m sure metrics don’t show it (yet) but I’m reluctant to share anything these days because I’m tired of getting back a reply “AI” on kitten or yoga videos.

AI accounts and content need to be labeled and deprioritized.

LinkedIn was already slop. All that's changed is that it's now AI slop.

@paulg Is there any reason no startup is replacing LinkedIn?

@paulg I have never read a post on linkedin and said "wow that's interesting"

@paulg Yeah but everyone in San Francisco uses it for a Rolodex and during networking.

Partly because you can scan each other’s phones so you don’t need to worry about spelling someone’s name right or clicking on the wrong one.

Wish X did that.

@paulg LinkedIn will be the first platform to go full dead internet theory. Just bots and agents posting how humbled and grateful they are for promotions.

@paulg I think you can say that about social media in general.

@paulg I could never start a SAAS company because I could never do the cringe LinkedIn posts needed to reach enterprise customers.

@paulg The crazy thing though, is that LinkedIn still works wonders for hiring and sales

Not true. LinkedIn use to be great site. As an old timer i know. Post covid period, however, hasn't been kind. But that is on owner...who have used it to milk it...rather than grow it. But we have lots of examples on that front on old sites with lots of participants but zero new ideas.

@paulg of all social media slop, linkedin which supposedly has a more professional user base, ranks #1 in slop quantity and quality. Pure trash - @LinkedIn let me come in and fix it

@Scobleizer @paulg Hasn’t shipped a notable update in like 8yrs…

I built a networking platform this month that’s doing intros with founders to marketers and 100’s others registered.

LinkedIn can’t do the thing people need it for the most

- connecting people & helping with feeling isolated.

@paulg Possibly the first instance of a full AI ecosystem. Just bots posting and bots replying.

@paulg I have never liked Linkedin and resent having to use it- there is such better ways - honestly X has felt more natural in an odd way than Linkedin. Linkedin feels like DOS when you could us MAC OS

@paulg Most of the work people did pre-AI was already slop. Now it’s just expedited slop
