Thanks @richdoestech for the tip
Normalized by posts, negative posts do 2.5x better in algorithm than positive!
@levelsio This is where I wish @elonmusk would fix the algo...
- Negative: 230M views / 217 posts = ~1.06M views per post - Positive: 148.4M views / 346 posts = ~429K views per post
So negative posts average about 2.5x more views per post than positive posts.
Also interesting is the sentiment over time, proportionally (every block is a blog post or tweet)
You see more positive posts 2013-2020 and then positive/negative starts balancing, I think it is related to when you are starting out and trying to make it you have to really force yourself to be positive because life isn't positive at all: you're broke and struggling to try make something of your life
When you're more comfortably, you have the luxury to be more realistic, so positive and negative balances more in content
Or well that's my take

@marcospereeira 100% that too :D

@levelsio or you're slowly becoming old man yelling at cloud 😂

@levelsio I thought posts with negative sentiment were supposed to have reduced reach. Nikita said it several times.
Might be something where if the engagement is strong enough it cancels it out.

@levelsio wow that's crazy, my mental model was that the best content is proof of success
is this normalized for quantity? what if you just complain a lot? lol

@just_adev It's my blog

@levelsio from where you found these data ?

@levelsio do you think audience size also makes honesty safer?

@levelsio I've seen this in your posts for a while & wondered if you'd known this and posted more 'critical' or 'negative' comments/posts on purpose to get more interaction & engagement.
Because it's worked very well for you for months+ now.

nah I actually don't believe that
as you get older and wiser your standards for how things should be also increase
you start noticing mistakes more because of the accumulated experience of making mistakes yourself
and you become more confident in your opinions and way of seeing the world

@marcospereeira It's about equal I think but I'll ask it to normalize it

@levelsio @RichDoesTech I post negative stuff all day long and get no engagement. What the fuck?

@a_lamparelli @levelsio It's not the journalists' fault. The news just publishes what people want to consume, which just so happens to be mostly negative.

@levelsio @RichDoesTech What if people actually relate to negative Posts more than Positive posts.

@ThomasGrayX Sure, this is all time so I don't know about recently

@levelsio Really cool stats
Ultimately this is a list of what triggers human emotion the most

@ku_ds17868 @levelsio do you buy popcorn when happy stories happen?
