Some notes I took on this interview. Highly recommend watching it, @jvisserlabs provided some insights into where he believes AI is headed and what are the likely results.

• We are still short energy and chips. Believes we are in the second or third inning of likely a 20 year buildout. AI is the most transformative technology for reducing the cost of products.

• Google is likely out of winning this AI race, and it’s between OpenAI and Anthropic. He believes Google is third in this AI model race, and not too far off open source models presenting a threat to their spend. Google needs to focus on growing their cloud business, and it’s hard to focus on Gemini if they have to worry about showing stagnation in revenue growth in cloud.

• Unemployment will likely be an issue as agents start to transact. Probably high GDP growth though due to the velocity of money increasing.

• Bitcoin will likely start to show strength as we go into agentic commerce where money is handled through instantaneous stablecoin transactions. Stripe is pivotal in the new age of commerce.

• HBM/Memory is going to be a lot bigger than many believe. MU earnings call showed that the physical AI demand curve where robots and autonomous vehicles are moving around requires massive amounts of HBM. This is a national security issue, and Micron will likely be a 2T company at some point.

• We may be in a period where CapEx stagnates over the next 3-6 months because companies aren’t sure whether their spend is going to pay off or they are overbuilding infrastructure. Likely to see phases of reaccelerating growth after periods of stagnations as Agentic turns to AGI.

@APompliano @jvisserlabs Agentic loops replacing jobs is a massive deflationary shock. If you are long both AI and the debasement trade, you are essentially betting the Fed prints out of sheer panic when the middle class gets hollowed out.
