TLDR

Ars Technica reports Amazon has more than 1 million warehouse robots and expects to more than double its robotic-arm fleet in 2026. Amazon says robots take on physically taxing tasks, but a 2025 study found 40 percent fewer severe injuries and 77 percent more less severe injuries at robotic warehouses than at legacy centers. The study drew partly on 2016–2019 data. Amazon disputes critical safety reports and cites improved overall injury rates.
