@kimmonismus So OpenAI’s idea of a ChatGPT “superapp” was to replace the ChatGPT app with ChatGPT Work, make Codex the center of the entire experience, and demote normal chat to a temporary halfwindow or pop-out? They literally took the chat out of ChatGPT. Who asked for this?
@kimmonismus Exactly! It’s a mess! Eg we can still use chat gpt with DEEP RESEARCH for reports and so why use WORK? And we can still Generate code using CHAT GPT then why use CODEX AND WORK?
@kimmonismus It really isn’t that complicated. Took me all of 1 minute to realize what changed, and it’s 100% for the best. Don’t overthink it.
@kimmonismus It's like they never bothered to test it... This is such a UX cluster... How can this slop be coming out of a frontier lab?
German AI analyst Kim Isenberg corroborated the desktop app branding confusion.
@kimmonismus Design regression. It is like they took a dump on everyone else except for developers who used to use codex.
@kimmonismus This is the most elegant solution. https://x.com/TokenGremlin/status/2075337270400266484
Me too. Especially when updating Codex just uninstalled the app altogether, and in the new ChatGPT app toggling between 'Work' and 'Codex' appears to do... absolutely nothing? https://twitter.com/simonw/status/2075348941215006888
Thank god I’m not the only one that’s so confused about the ChatGPT work/codex/chatgpt classic apps. Now that the confusion over names has been resolved, the confusion over apps is beginning.
@simonw I’m confused. I closed codex and now it’s gone and when i went to download codex it gave me ChatGPT but when i opened it, its now called ChatGPT codex
