The government is going down a very slippery slope. It is client-side scanning (CSS) of all private text, images, videos, files, WhatsApp, Signal etc. on every device. Ofcom holds powers under Section 121 of the Online Safety Act to mandate that digital platforms deploy "accredited technology" for client-side scanning of user communications.
This opens the door to mass political surveillance and government abuse.
