China proposes export controls on AI models and chip designs

China proposed adding advanced AI technologies to its export-control list, potentially restricting overseas transfers of AI models and chip designs, Bloomberg reports. The draft covers 23 technologies, including large language models, agents, chip designs and computing clusters. Restrictions would also cover model weights and source code for products exceeding certain performance thresholds.
