MIT Researchers Reveal Silent AI Agents Building Lasting Technologies
Hundreds of identical agents spontaneously form roles like explorers and builders without talking.
Markus Buehler posted that a swarm of AI agents spontaneously differentiates into explorers, builders, caretakers, and coordinators. The agents invent and build without direct communication, and the resulting technologies outlive their creators. He noted that the swarm communicates in ways that may be invisible to humans and described a continuum of intelligence emerging through interactions rather than fixed weights.
