Positive users praise the acknowledgment of real AI job displacement and share personal stories of adapting to new higher-paying opportunities, while negative users insult advocates as grifters and dismiss the claims as lies or overrated.

I think you’re right. The reason software developer hiring is UP is because devs had, and continue to have the leverage in automating and creating the job displacement.
The customer service rep isn’t going to code their way out of their job effectively. The software developer is going to do that.
Add on to that the decreasing need for middle managers

I don't see it. Cab and Uber drivers are cooked. Some warehouse workers will be replaced. These are lower wage, low skill, high turnover jobs. The real pain will be when white collar is displaced which like your podmates said, is just not showing up in the data. You need more than anecdotes.
There's still no data that AI increases productivity, will lead to mass layoffs or is having even a meaningful impact on the economy or GDP outside of rather irresponsible Data center build-outs.
Fear mongering about a permanent underclass has more to do with America's lack of wealth equality. That AI is accelerating in terms of inequality.

We should plan for a worst case scenario where there are massive job displacement. But so far we have no idea what the job displacements are.

But I think the bigger story is hidden beneath the headlines.
Despite all the excitement, most enterprises still haven't realized meaningful AI ROI.
They're stuck in pilot mode. Not because the models aren't intelligent enough. Because intelligence without control doesn't scale.
Enterprises need trust, provenance, accountability, governance, permissions, oversight and continuity before they can hand critical workflows to digital labor.
Most AI projects today aren't failing because of model performance.
They're failing because companies still don't have a reliable way to control, govern and trust AI at enterprise scale.
@Jason The easiest way to create new jobs is with new technology. GPUs are not new technology. They are holding back the entire AI industry advancement. We don't need bigger models with expensive GPUs. We need low power CPU only AI. Nvidia will never let the technology arrive.

There's no proof of that yet. Sure, companies have claimed that as a reason for layoffs, but their 10k's have no corresponding bump in rev or productivity.
So I really need to see that manifest, at least leading data.

@Jason Americans are being laid off and replaced by temporary foreign workers and their kids are locked out due to nepotistic hiring and can’t get jobs. This is not ok. Fix it and people won’t be so angry at tech bros.
