Google opens SynthID Detector globally for AI watermark checks

Google says the English-language portal checks images, video and audio for SynthID watermarks, not all AI-generated media.

Google says SynthID Detector is open globally for people to upload images, video and audio to check for watermarks used by Google, OpenAI, Nvidia and Kakao. On October 7, 2026, Google said Apple support was coming soon. The detector’s website cautions that a “not detected” result does not rule out AI generation: content made without SynthID or heavily modified media may have no detectable watermark.
