Visual ChatGPT ads planned for US image-generation test in October 2026

OpenAI announced on October 5 that it plans to test visual ads during ChatGPT image generation in the US later that month, starting with a group of advertisers. It says the ads will be labeled, kept separate from the image being created and won't influence ChatGPT's answers. OpenAI also expanded its ad measurement tools and partnerships and said it is developing pilots to evaluate whether ad placements suit advertisers' brands.
