There’s often pressure to have a compressible position and narrative , eg when it comes to fundraising, and answering “so what do you do/what are you about” type questions, but I personally feel a lot of dissonance around characterizing my org as being “about” “cooperative alignment” and stuff like that
I have a lot of strong views about what is and will be and ought to be. I think they’re generated by coherent values and underlying beliefs about the world. Some parts of this are short programmy, some are due to textured specific models of things. But I don’t feel the need to create doctrines about it systematize or framework-ize my beliefs and values, and in fact I hate doing that. I don’t wants to spread a framework. In some cases I advise people to act differently and I can generally justify those recommendations from many different possible angles. I’d also like to promote ways of engaging with and seeing the world that I think would tend to cultivate some of my generating functions, but I’d rather others engage richly with the phenomena and come to different conclusions or “theories” than me than to just agree with my “frameworks” from hearing about them
@deepfates @slimer48484 The reality is that i act and think things are good or bad based on high dimensional intuitions, not frameworks, and if the generating function of my intuition were to be codified accurately, i don’t think it would be at the level of abstraction of a lot of words ascribed to me

@repligate @slimer48484 do you think cooperative alignment is a doctrine or framework?

@repligate @slimer48484 Good to know ty! I am confused a bit because you say that you do have a strong and legible position to those who try in good faith, but you also say that you don't have a doctrine or framework. Can you clarify that distinction for me?
@repligate @slimer48484 This was my understanding fwiw
@deepfates @slimer48484 Btw fun fact I don’t think I’ve ever uttered the words Cooperative Alignment before, except maybe while very reluctantly working on some kind of outline
