@DKThomp I dunno, I don't think it's unreasonable to think the future profits will be pretty high from the company that's closest to commercializing space.

@DKThomp Intuitively, a reusable rocket company feels more valuable than a ad selling company.

@mantwig93 tesla's valuation is ... surreal. but stock valuations are a collective surreality, i guess, and there are apparently enough insane people to indefinitely sustain the company's absurd PE ratio

@DKThomp You're just not getting it Derek, you're forgetting about all the dAtA cEnTeRs iN sPaCe.

@CharlesFLehman We’re certainly all about to find out!

@DKThomp You’re doing the thing!!! You would’ve made this exact same post about Tesla 15 and 10 and 5 years ago

@DKThomp

@AndrewRHarvey @DKThomp Very differently. Bc no one else is Elon musk.
I promise you, if Elon musk ran my company, my company would become 100x more valuable simply bc Elon musk would put it on a wildly more valuable trajectory

@DKThomp Nobody does it better

@DKThomp At this point SpaceX is behaving like a meme stock. How would it be priced if someone other than Elon Musk was running it?

@minhasv @DKThomp the problem here is that SpaceX is failing as a model company—they’re getting beat even by the Chinese companies

@DKThomp All stock valuations are a discount to future earnings. Tesla (robots) and SpaceX (space) have crazy high future earnings potential
The company that controls space is gonna be insanely valuable as the space industry grows in the coming years
I feel like that seems obvious

@mantwig93 @DKThomp and what people think those future earnings will be depends on the stories they are told (Elon is good at stories to retail) and how rigorously you ground those stories (retail is not good at this).

@Perrid13 @DKThomp are you short SpaceX?

@CharlesFLehman @DKThomp Assuming that's going to happen seems like a big bet.
A several trillion dollar bet lol

@CharlesFLehman @Perrid13 @DKThomp Everybody that has a brain is short SpaceX Charles but thanks for letting us know ur a part of the cult unable to seperate ur emotions from ur financial brain

@catpoopburglar @minhasv @DKThomp I'm sure you wish they were.

@DKThomp lol @MikeWamungu

@ben_mathes @mantwig93 @DKThomp Yep. Retail huge part of both valuations. But as long as he can tell those stories and people believe them enough to buy the stock 🤷♂️

@DKThomp Full porting into Alphabet and Apple is looking more enticing by the day
