Take-Two reportedly halts unofficial native GTA V Android port ahead of developer group’s October shutdown

A native Android build, not a compatibility workaround

What made the project notable was its goal. Instead of relying on tools such as Winlator to run the Windows version of GTA V on Android, the port was intended to run natively on ARM hardware, as both VideoCardz and Android Authority reported.

The same group had also worked on native GTA V efforts for Nintendo Switch, with VideoCardz reporting that an experimental Switch port had already been released before work continued on Android.

No public release planned

Any remaining chance that the Android port might surface after the shutdown also appears to be off the table. VideoCardz reported that Mojso said the source code would not be released, and Android Authority reported that neither the code nor binary builds will be made public, with Mojso tying that decision to the risk of further legal trouble.

Separate reporting has also raised a key question about how the project was built. VideoCardz said reports indicated the ports were based on GTA V source code leaked online rather than on an independently recreated engine, and Android Authority likewise wrote that the project seemingly relied on leaked source code.

For Android players, the result is that a native GTA V phone port that sources described as more ambitious than Winlator-style approaches appears to be over before release. Based on Mojso’s statements, the project will end with the studio’s closure on October 3, and neither the source code nor binary builds are expected to be released publicly.
