PwC’s US and Indian firms plan to combine major consulting operations in a joint venture expected to include about 40,000 employees.
The venture will bring together PwC India’s consulting business and the India-based capabilities of PwC US Advisory, including its acceleration centers. PwC’s announcement says the new organization will combine technology, engineering, artificial intelligence, and managed-services capabilities at greater scale.
PwC US is expected to own 50.1 percent of the venture and PwC India 49.9 percent, according to reporting on the proposed structure. PwC India chairperson Sanjeev Krishan is set to lead it as chief executive.
The reorganization comes as AI puts pressure on the labor-intensive delivery model used across consulting and outsourcing. Consolidating client relationships, engineering talent, and offshore delivery could help PwC automate more work while competing for large transformation projects. The size of the planned venture makes it a significant organizational response to that pressure, not just a new AI product announcement.
