There's really no way to come out right with Gov if you're successful unless they decide what to do with success. Early 20th Cen. saw the old Rep Party—the progressive/populists—go after antitrust and charitable giving. Starting with FDR/New Deal…same views now just democrats.
First they went after Carnegie and Rockefeller on antitrust. Then they decided that giving all the money away—building libraries, researching cures for diseases, etc.—would develop a dependency on their charity even shaming localities for accepting books and buildings.
