What we need to large (carefully designed) open data generation efforts like what the govt supports through grants & via other orgs like @biohub . On the health & medicine side we've seen the downsides of silo-ing & hoarding for a while now. 4/
We should find solutions to break through silos. Not create more of them. But I do agree that even closed profit making entities will be safer using, modifying, improving open source models than feeding closed source behemoths. 5/5
