Wendy, who just arrived today from Kenya, came here to learn about technology, meet investors, meet other founders, and seep in the technology culture here.
Mostly, people come to get money. This is a gold rush town, and because it's a gold rush town, it brings the most interesting people from around the world who are building companies.
Wendy's company is very interesting because she saw a need in her own country, which had a school shooting. She's trying to develop technologies that would help protect kids and let parents and first responders know what's going on. I presented her pitch here overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge on a glorious day in San Francisco.
When I learned she had just arrived, I said, "You have to get a ride in an autonomous car and we have to see the Golden Gate Bridge." I am so happy I got to introduce her to San Francisco this way.
