Playden reportedly runs some Steam games locally on jailbroken PS5s

Playden lets people download and launch some Steam games directly on jailbroken PS5s, VideoCardz reports. The games run on the console rather than through Remote Play or cloud streaming. VideoCardz says users can sign in to Steam, browse their libraries and start downloaded games from the PS5 home screen.

VideoCardz says Playden runs as a PS5 application without booting a separate Linux installation. It uses prospero-win, which the outlet describes as a port of Wine for the console. According to the project compatibility database as described by VideoCardz, Cyberpunk 2077, Hollow Knight, Cuphead, Portal 2, Dead Cells and Deep Rock Galactic have reached playable states. The outlet says a Cyberpunk 2077 test lasted 13 minutes with a controller, but gave no frame-rate measurements. It cautions that the listings do not establish trouble-free play.
