AI Judge changed title after evaluation, original title: "Online parody claims SpaceX is acquiring Cursor code editor developer Anysphere for $60 billion"
A fake SEC filing making the rounds online spins a wild $60 billion SpaceX buyout of Anysphere, the team behind the AI code editor Cursor, with a tongue-in-cheek Q3 2026 close date that has the timeline stretching into next year.

SpaceX already holds a non-binding right to acquire the company for that same figure or pay a smaller sum for joint AI coding work, giving the parody its thin slice of real-world texture.
Everything beyond the April option stays murky, with no actual merger paperwork or updated pricing available to pin down what the joke filing is riffing on.
Positive users called SpaceX's $60 billion acquisition of Cursor a smart and promising move for AI coding integration, while negative users dismissed the deal as a scam that worsens industry concentration.
Wow. Spacex buys Cursor for $60B
A lot of people thought this company was dead a few *months* ago
Great outcome for all, including me in a very small way… Thus concludes my bet with @rabois
(He bet me $100k that no company founded in SF between 2020-2023 would exit >$10B)
My first real investment exit!!! 🎉
Congrats @cursor_ai and everyone!!!
BREAKING: SpaceX is acquiring Cursor in a $60 billion all-stock deal.
• Cursor is being valued at $60 billion • Cursor will become a wholly owned SpaceX subsidiary • Cursor shareholders will receive SpaceX Class A shares • The exchange ratio will be based on SpaceX’s 7-day average share price before closing • Subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions • Expected to close in Q3 2026
Cursor is one of the world’s leading AI coding platforms and one of the fastest-growing software companies. This marks one of the largest AI acquisitions ever and significantly expands SpaceX’s footprint in AI.
BOOM!
“SpaceX Agrees to Buy AI Coding Agent Cursor for $60 Billion”
A massive directional change that will ultimately make Claude/Mythos irrelevant.
Official now: SpaceX is officially buying Cursor in an all-stock deal valued at $60B.
The move gives Elon Musk’s AI empire a serious enterprise coding product overnight, and could help xAI close the gap with Anthropic’s Claude Code and OpenAI’s Codex.
However, the truth is that it now seems that xAI is increasingly renting out its data centers and offering them as a hyperscaler rather than actually wanting to participate in the race for the SOTA model.

SpaceX and Cursor signed a definitive Merger Agreement in an all-stock deal, valuing Cursor at $60B
They expect to close the merger in Q3 of 2026.
Anthropic is genuinely just multiple months ahead of everyone
since learning about OpenAI's scaling skill issue, I no longer expect them to be ahead by end-of-year by ~1-2 months
best case for them is catching up to Anthropic or staying at their roughly 2 month lag
SpaceX acquired Cursor
I expect SpaceX AI to be between Google and OpenAI by end of year
Composer 2.0 was a very strong model for only 1T params, but Elon isn't stopping at 1T models
With the acquisition of @cursor_ai the AI run rate of $SPCX will actually go above that of OpenAI, Google Cloud and AWS (!)
So looks like @SpaceX will spend 2.5% of its market cap to buy @cursor_ai at 15x revenue 👀

BREAKING: SpaceX has agreed to acquire Cursor, the world's fastest growing software startup, for $60 billion in an all stock deal.
Cursor has over 1 million paying customers, more than $2 billion in annualized revenue, and is projected to hit $6 billion by end of 2026.
At $60 billion, this is the largest software acquisition in history, paying 20 to 30 times Cursor's current revenue.
The deal is subject to regulatory approval and expected to close in Q3 2026.
SpaceX now owns the rockets, the satellites, the AI models, the chips, and is about to own the tool every developer on earth uses to write code.
Lots to do together. Excited to be joining forces with @SpaceX to build useful AI.
SpaceX has exercised the option to acquire @cursor_ai in an all-stock transaction with the goal of building the world’s most useful AI models.
For the past few months, SpaceXAI has been jointly training a model with Cursor, which will be released in Cursor and Grok Build soon.
We look forward to working closely with the Cursor team to advance our frontier AI capabilities

@BillAckman @SpaceX It's a textbook currency play, but it only works if the Cursor team accepts SpaceX equity over cash. If the founders want liquidity, that high valuation doesn't lower the cost, it just makes the negotiation harder.
@rabois Happy to wait until it closes!
Seems to be an actual acquisition, I think clearly an “exit” for the purposes of our bet.
@pitdesi is deal closed:). also is it one of these fake licensing deals or a real acquisition:)
I am shocked, shocked.
Here’s the bet
@pitdesi will take the bet that no SF based company founded after March 2020 until today that raised VC capital will exit above $10b.

the merger only seems to be happening in Q3
so we might have to wait until really late Q4 or early 2027 for really strong xAI models

That's exactly what I've been trying to explain to people for a long time. Tesla hasn't been the underdog in a long long time. People made the mistake and assumed prowess in Tesla for beating much bigger GM and Ford. They completely missed that Tesla's large market cap very early on put them on a level playing field and latter provided Tesla with an enormous competitive advantage thanks to the points you made above but also, even more importantly, the benefits with regard to SBC and talent acquisition and retention. This is part of why Elon is overrated. Yes, someone has to say it since nobody dares in the current environment. Elon is great, don't get me wrong, but reality his much more mundane.

@pitdesi i don’t think something like a Scale deal would be but this is 98% real.

@DeItaone

@DeItaone $60 BLN EQUITY VALUE LMAOOOOOO
They are burning the money just raised.
