Apple Introduces M6 Chip and M5 Ultra
M6 powers the updated Mac mini while M5 Ultra goes into the new Mac Studio.
Apple announced the M6 chip in the new Mac mini and the M5 Ultra chip in the new Mac Studio. The company stated that both chips deliver a leap in performance and AI compute capabilities. Marques Brownlee posted the M5 Ultra specs of up to 36-core CPU and 80-core GPU. Alex Volkov reported that the Mac mini with M6 starts at $899 and the Mac Studio with M5 Ultra starts at $5499 and can reach nearly $20k. The Apple Newsroom release confirms the chips were debuted in the refreshed desktop models.
M5 Ultra has also landed - Up to 36-core CPU - Up to 80-core GPU - 1.2TB/s for unified memory (A fully specced-out M5 Ultra Mac Studio with 16TB storage and 256GB of memory now costs $18,299)
