Many users praise Apple's new child safety features and parental controls in iOS as setting a market standard and helpful for parents, while others dismiss the announcements as boring or too little too late.
Massive focus now on trust and safety with a ton of child-focused features for iPhone
Upside: Much better safety and control for parents that directly addresses concerns about which apps and content they have access to
Cynical read: Get your kids an iPhone. Trust me. It's gotta be an iPhone

@MKBHD I'm glad these features exist but I always wonder what % of parents actually know they exist

@MKBHD Apple Intelligence and a new Siri

@MKBHD My daughter can skip the time limit since there is a “ ignore limit” button in the UI 🫣, hopefully they remove it soon

Photo reframing is a terrific upgrade You can use Spatial Reframing to adjust a photo after capturing it. Utilize the Extend tool to broaden your images. Employ the improved Clean Up tool to eliminate even bigger objects.

@MKBHD If android did anything close to this then I’d say you have an argument.

@MKBHD Siri’s been late to the AI party. Hope today’s the turnaround.

Some behind-the-scenes improvements
Design Refinements: Updates to "Liquid Glass" for better contrast and readability, sharper app icons, and a slider to customize the interface from clear to tinted.
Speed & Performance: App launches are up to 30% faster, Photos library loading is up to 70% faster, and AirDrop transfers are up to 80% faster.
Seamless Network Transitions: Smoother, uninterrupted handoffs between Wi-Fi and cellular connections.
Smarter Mail Search: A new ranking system prioritizes the most relevant emails in your search results.

@MKBHD Both things can be true at the same time 😂🔥 Genuinely great safety features AND a genius marketing play to lock families into the Apple ecosystem early. Tim Cook said protect the kids AND the revenue 💀👏

@MKBHD Apple can put AI in everything, but Siri still has unfinished business.

@MKBHD Platform improvement

@MKBHD

Excited to see Apple Intelligence powering a more capable Siri alongside stronger platform foundations and kid-focused safety. On-device intelligence like this opens clean paths for seamless agentic workflows and personalized learning experiences that respect focus and privacy. How are you planning to integrate these capabilities into your own apps?

@MKBHD The product team sees child safety.
The marketing team sees customer retention.
Sometimes they're looking at the exact same feature. 😄🍎

@Gazeria @MKBHD If that is the case it’s not set up properly

This whole presentation seems like a security concern now. Reading all your messages? connecting to google servers? monitor your screen? Yikes. Even the "On Device" tasks seems like it requires some bit of offloading to a cloud server for them to function.
Also, so now AI has my address if someone using Siri has my contact on their phone? Where is the consent for that as the contact?

@MKBHD Apple has been rebuilding Siri every year since 2011 and today is the day it finally works. We have heard this before, same keynote different font. @grok how many times has Apple announced a new and improved Siri at WWDC since it launched.

@MKBHD It’s gotta be an iPhone 🫠

@MKBHD New mission: Have a kid
so i can use this feature 😝
