@hugolowell "But Amodei didn’t pick up" such a brazen lie. Just like Amodei was at a wellness retreat, except that was also a lie.
Jordan Schneider questioned the logical consistency of the reported calls.
Many users criticized Amazon CEO Jassy for calling the Treasury Secretary after missing Anthropic's Amodei, seeing the move as petty, in bad faith, or based on lies about the failed contact.

@hugolowell "But Amodei didn’t pick up" such a brazen lie. Just like Amodei was at a wellness retreat, except that was also a lie.

@hugolowell The amount of bullshit flowing around this story is the problem.
Why is the federal government picking winners and losers in AI? Security is a scare word that allows federal decision makers to set their own rules rather than the competitive market

@spiral_archtct @hugolowell lol maybe, tho being unreachable absolutely fits his personality

Incredible to the point of disbelief.
Insane judgement call by a CEO — all over model-eexpected behavior that wasn’t a jailbreak. Couldn’t have been the plan.
20 years in tech policy and never saw a CEO shoot their customer in the face because they couldn’t get a call back in 5 minutes.

@hugolowell @SophiaCai99 Couldn't he have texted or left a voicemail instead of calling the ops right away? 😭

@hugolowell @ShakeelHashim Do you believe this? I am not doubting your source told you this. I am suggesting it sets my BS detector off. We know Amazon had already been in touch with Anthropic because Anthropic had already taken their report to an outside cyber expert. I suggest this narrative is wrong.

@hugolowell Yeah, like Jassy couldn't have left an urgent call me message with Amodei's assitant.

@hugolowell CEO Amazon didn’t get hold of CEO of Anthropic in the first try. The natural next step is to call the government. Makes sense!

@hugolowell Jassy does not act in good faith.

@hugolowell Truly history’s most fateful wellness retreat

@hugolowell Pretty funny that a CEO got concerned that a programming AI was able to program. What does he think the point of claude is?

@EthanKean_ @hugolowell @SophiaCai99 if fable got compromised (this is what they believed, idiots, I know) then amazon is on the hook with the DOD and could be sued.

@hugolowell @shashj Oh yes because I’m sure Jassy nor anyone at Amazon had a phone number of any other leader at Anthropic. Sure. They invested billions in Anthropic only with one man’s phone number.

@hugolowell Don’t buy it.

Amazon has big contracts for hosting cloud infrastructure for the major intelligence & military agencies.
presumably those aws contractors participated in project glasswing and had a list of vulnerabilities in software they use which they're working to patch.
checking if those new undisclosed vulnerabilities are discoverable with fable is presumably part of the job and they'd report any findings upwards and to the govt as a matter of course, not specifically to screw over anthropic.

@hugolowell Jassy is such a bitch.
I am sure Amazon won't have access to the Legendary or Epic class models.

@spiral_archtct @PussyBlaster10k @hugolowell you can also see why no one involved can provide details of the vulnerability nor the potential impact of it being exploited lest the disclosure itself point malicious hackers towards a hole they could exploit before it's fixed.

Wrong
Miss the point entirely
1) OpenAI has operated the same technology with the same jailbreak vulnerabilities since April 23, 2026, with GPT-5.5. They have received no similar restrictions
2) OpenAI and Anthropic have announced IPOs are imminent. This puts Anthropic at a serious disadvantage compared to OpenAI in terms of future financing.
3) The real issue is federal authoritarian preemption, where the administration picks winners and losers rather than the free market

@PussyBlaster10k @hugolowell Jassy's Amazon owns 15% of Anthropic. It doesn't even make sense that he would throw them under the bus. They didn't even put effort into crafting a quality lie.

@wiley_inc @hugolowell LLM drivel
