One of the best providers of voice AI has just halved its API prices across its entire stack:

TTS, STT, and LLM costs are now 50% down.

Even better: the price goes down as you scale!

The more users you have, the lower you pay.

Hats off. Hope more providers follow.

We want to make AI accessible for everyone, so we're reducing our API prices by ~50%.

Consumer AI growth is still blocked by model costs. 97% of consumer AI users will never pay. But every session still consumes tokens.

This is the math we've found every consumer AI developer is stuck with. The model pricing they're forced to use, was built for $300/mo enterprise seats, not $10/month consumer subscriptions.

So we're taking a step to solve this with reduced pricing across TTS, STT and LLMs.

Teams like Wishroll, Biblechat, Talkpal, and Luvu are already seeing 40-95% reductions in their AI costs.

@kimmonismus that’s a huge drop, really makes building so much more viable

@kimmonismus Costs dropping that fast changes the unit economics for AI NPCs fast — curious if they’re keeping quality with compression or just cutting margins.

@svpino Been running voice agents and API costs were eating most margins. If this pricing holds at scale, suddenly a whole category of projects work.

@kimmonismus Inworld cutting prices is the right move but 97% never paying means the math still has to work somewhere else

@svpino wonder how long until the race turns into who can burn money slower

feels like venture subsidizing retail right now

@svpino halving prices is nice but scaling discounts for volume is what actually makes consumer apps feasible

the race is starting

@svpino 97% free riders and price cuts. brave move or desperate bid for volume?

@svpino lower prices on scale sounds nice in theory

wonder how long til they reintroduce it as a usage limit tho
