There are no actual restricted rollout rules to sign up to AFAIK - that article seemed to conflate signing up for cross-risk, non-deployment-blocking CAISI safety testing, with this heavy handed but informal cyber stuff, on which there is AFAIK no formal framework (due eventually but not delivered yet)

@AndrewCurran_ I really don't like this. The outcome doesn't seem good if we're going to get a two-tiered system where select companies and of course the labs themselves get access to models that the rest of us never see - but we are of course subject to their results and impact
@AndrewCurran_ Good to see some pushback tbh, however Meta likely can only hold back so long. Hopefully there are more discussions about some of the absurdity around this being held behind closed doors.

In any event, it doesn't matter. This is a dumb move on the part of the US government and will backfire badly, as more people move to open source alternatives from China.
