@bgurley If you think that’s what distillation means then you’re not that bright. The practical implications of distillation within an automated system is far more similar to photocopying or taking a picture of the Mona Lisa and selling copies than reverse engineering a car. Such slop
@bgurley You seem to care more about your preferred fiefdoms in Silicon Valley than the national interest. These Chinese labs are stealing from us and US primacy in AI is a lot more important than your self interest in hyper-scalers or saas. Disgusting.
@bgurley In the automotive aftermarket for post warranty parts, they have machines dedicated to scanning and cloning OEM parts as soon as they're released. I'm sure the LLM APIs ToS say no distillation though. I guess that's the difference.
@bgurley I agree that this is essentially what's happening and, more importantly, that's it's diminishing and embarrassing for Ford that the are reduced to this.
