Xiaomi’s Door and Window Sensor 3 launches in China with longer battery life and faster sensing

Xiaomi has introduced the Door and Window Sensor 3 in China, with crowdfunding scheduled to begin October 12 at 10:00 a.m. The device is listed at 44 yuan during crowdfunding, with a suggested retail price of 49 yuan. Xiaomi says it replaces the previous Hall sensor with a tunnel magnetoresistance sensor for faster response and lower power use, helping deliver up to three years of battery life from a CR2032 cell. The sensor is designed to track the open and close status of doors, drawers and cabinets, though the light sensor from the previous generation is no longer included. Remote access in the Mi Home app requires a Bluetooth Mesh-capable gateway.
