Zig 0.17.0 reworks builds and broadens incremental compilation on x86_64 Linux
Zig’s release notes say its new build-server protocol is intended for IDEs, but ZLS does not yet work with 0.17.0.
TLDR
Zig’s 0.17.0 release notes detail a build-system overhaul, including a protocol designed to let IDEs monitor and control builds. They say most projects targeting x86_64-linux can now use incremental compilation with -fincremental --watch to rebuild after code changes. The new build architecture prevents ZLS from working with 0.17.0; the Zig and ZLS teams are working to restore functionality.
