Location icon on newer Samsung Galaxy devices can appear with Maps closed
BGR explains how to check recent location access, including hidden system apps, before changing permissions.
TLDR
On newer Samsung Galaxy devices, a location pin can appear with Maps closed because something else is accessing location data, BGR's Briley Kenney explains. BGR's permissions steps show which apps recently accessed location, though system apps are hidden by default. You can reveal them, change an individual app's permission or use the separate phone-wide location switch.
