Claude outage disrupted chat, coding and login features before Anthropic restored service

Anthropic said Claude suffered a partial outage on Sept. 29 that hit Claude.ai, Claude Code and Claude Cowork, producing failed requests, errors loading or sending conversations and repeated sign-in prompts. During the disruption, reports cited login problems affecting single sign-on and Sign in with Apple, prompting Anthropic to advise users not to log out if they were already in. Later updates said a mitigation had sharply reduced error rates and that existing conversations were mostly working again, though new chats, voice conversations, file uploads, purchases, and Code and Cowork sessions were still affected. By later that day, Anthropic said all services were operating normally. PCMag reported Anthropic also warned some messages sent during part of the outage may not have been saved.
