Apple updates Final Cut Camera for iPhone 18 Pro aperture controls and expands Creator Studio apps

Apple rolled out updates Tuesday to Final Cut Camera and its broader Creator Studio app lineup, with the biggest changes centered on video tools for the iPhone 18 Pro.

For Final Cut Camera, Apple added support for the iPhone 18 Pro’s variable aperture system, letting users adjust aperture directly in the app and switch between aperture priority and shutter priority modes. The app also now supports Cinematic mode effects for video on that device, expanding the phone’s camera controls inside Apple’s pro-focused recording app. MacRumors and PCMag both reported the new aperture support, while PCMag noted the app supports full manual exposure alongside aperture priority, shutter priority, and automatic modes.

Apple said Final Cut Camera was redesigned from the ground up to make pro settings like shutter angle, ISO, and white balance easier to reach. It also added more on-screen monitoring tools, including false color and clipping indicators for exposure, improved focus peaking with sensitivity control, a tally light to show when recording is active, and a two-finger tap gesture that clears the viewfinder for an unobstructed shot. The update also includes support for professional video scopes, clean SDI out, and genlock offset, MacRumors reported.

Creator Studio app changes

Apple’s wider Creator Studio update touches Pages, Numbers, Keynote, Pixelmator Pro, Freeform, Final Cut Pro, Motion, and Compressor. In Pages, Numbers, and Keynote, Apple added new templates and themes plus broader collaboration improvements, with Engadget reporting that some shared-file access features are also available to non-subscribers.

Keynote is gaining intelligent slide generation, while Numbers adds new trigonometry, statistics, and logic functions. Pages for Mac now includes Screen View, a reading and writing mode that reformats content for easier on-screen use. Pixelmator Pro for iPad is getting new template collections and the Select and Mask tool, while Freeform adds automatic dark mode support for boards, folder organization, and Writing Tools support. and both outlined the broader app rollout.
