Something I'd like to see more commentary on, re: Obernolte-Trahan, is CAISI Director independence.

They have many key roles here.

What can be done to limit politicization of that role, and if the answer is not much (that will pass in this Congress), what other solutions exist?

@Miles_Brundage The Supreme Court has been increasingly inclined to prevent Congress from imposing "for cause" (etc.) removal restrictions on presidential appointees. Seems challenging to avoid that unless you're the Federal Reserve.

@TimSchnabel Yes that is also my understanding. But it seems like there are probably various other ways to reduce politicization, such as through other aspects of the selection process, some external committee w/ eyes on things, standards they have to follow, etc....
