Most Merchants Fail to Spot AI Agent Purchases
PYMNTS report finds most merchants cannot track AI-driven traffic or purchases.
TLDR
A PYMNTS Intelligence report commissioned by Visa states that merchants are preparing to sell to AI agents. The Global Digital Shopping Index: Merchant Edition shows only 23% of merchants can clearly identify both AI-driven traffic and purchases. The report notes that AI agents are poised to influence discovery, payment choice, and transactions. The remaining merchants lack visibility into when an agent has already completed a purchase.
