@svpino mostly true, one exception, distribution and money still buy an unfair advantage even with equal tools. “best idea wins” assumes equal reach too, and it isnt
"your brain is all that matters" said the guy typing into a chatgpt window like the rest of us obv the actual moat in 2026 is knowing what NOT to prompt. every marketing team has a junior spitting out 40 pieces a day and a director trying to explain to the ceo why only 2 of them are usable

@iwheathen No, I don't think you can copy somebody's ideas today. "Let's build an email application" is not going to lead you to replacing Google.
Agree, and I'd add one layer. The brain is the edge, but the brain that knows how to actually direct AI, not just use it, is a different tier of edge entirely. Two people with identical domain expertise, one fluent in directing these tools and one who isn't, aren't playing the same game anymore. The gap isn't the tool. It's who knows how to wield it. That's the real form of "your brain." Domain knowledge plus fluency with the tool becomes something closer to superhuman output in your specific field.
@lumeroute You are treating "ideas" as these unique, grandiose things that anybody could steal. Instead, think of "ideas" as the 10,000 micro decisions you have to make in order to build anything that matters.
@svpino What I meant was that in the past the friction in execution meant that copying somebody else's idea alone was not sufficient. Now that friction is gone so it is easy to go from idea to final product. For eg I no longer need an adobe subscription to edit and create PDF files.
@svpino Agreed, established products are mostly fine but I'm referring to a new product that comes online today. I could copy the features and create a clone very quickly compared to 5 yrs ago. Of course sales and distribution channels etc might protect you but the idea itself maybe not.
@svpino Just like a calculator do, AI just a tool. Back then, people used to manually calculate numbers, then calculator automate it. Now, the same thing happens on coding
