Deno joins Cloudflare and plans to stop developing its runtime

Deno announced on October 9, 2026, that its entire team is joining Cloudflare. Cloudflare says the teams plan to combine Deno’s celld with its open-source workerd runtime to improve self-hosted Workers. Deno says it will issue monthly bug-fix and security updates for its runtime for another year, then end its development; the runtime will remain open source. Deno Deploy will operate for six months before shutting down, while JSR will continue on Cloudflare infrastructure.
