There is a straight path to the frontier: 1) deployment 2) post-train 3) train. We’re not even in stage 1, even though affordable EU hosted SOTA open weights would be the most consecutive cheap move to sovereignty.

@Dorialexander Even if compute and funding becomes available, I am afraid EU wants to regulate the models as soon as they get out, so who would want to start a big project in the EU? I guess some reassurances about this aspect are required as well.
