Qualcomm says it has renewed its global patent-license agreement with Apple effective April 1, 2027. The companies did not disclose the new term or financial details. The deal covers access to Qualcomm's patent portfolio, not a new commitment to buy its modem chips, an important distinction as Apple reduces its hardware reliance on Qualcomm. Their licensing relationship grew out of a 2019 settlement that ended worldwide litigation and established a six-year patent agreement with an extension option.
