Why doesn’t Europe just go all in on fusion, or something else in the “lots of energy in a small amount of land” vicinity? Or robotics?

Both seem more realistic than competing directly in large model training/inference but are complementary + benefit from its STEM strengths

They voted/protested out nuclear (fission, but general public doesn't make a difference, "nuclear" is "nuclear"). It's a public sentiment thing.

As for robotics, i think it's going quite strong here, lots of startups especially in Zurich. But as with everything, less capital than in SF.

@giffmana @Miles_Brundage I think views are pretty heterogeneous by geography. German greens hate nuclear. French elites love fission and would prob implement fusion if / when it arrives.

@giffmana @Miles_Brundage 1x was originally Norwegian, even if they have moved HQ to California. Presumably because of better access to capital.
