Steam Deck 2 could use an AMD chip codenamed “Gainsborough”

Gizmodo reports that leaker Moore’s Law is Dead noticed forum references to a “Gainsborough” chip in AMD driver documents and suggests it could be intended for a Steam Deck successor. The codename recalls Aerith Gainsborough, whose first name was used for the original Deck chip. The leaker suggests a new handheld could arrive in late 2027 or early 2028; core counts and clock speeds remain unknown.
