Photos and Safari get practical AI tools
Photos adds Spatial Reframing to adjust a picture's composition after capture, plus Extend to generate content beyond its edges. Clean Up can remove larger objects. These tools change what's in a picture, so they're worth treating as edits when you share the result.

The smaller changes you may use every day
Alarms and timers get independent volume settings. Connectivity Assist improves transitions between Wi-Fi and cellular. Parents can approve new websites with Ask to Browse and schedule which apps children can access throughout the week. App support will shape Siri's usefulness
Developers have work to do for deeper Siri integration. Apple's App Intents framework lets an app describe its content and available actions to the system. New tools also connect what's visible onscreen to information Siri can understand and act on. Apple is also expanding the Foundation Models framework, which gives developers access to language models. It now supports prompts containing images and text and connections to additional model providers. You can patch your phone while waiting to upgrade
The security fixes deserve attention even if Siri doesn't interest you. Apple's bulletin lists vulnerabilities involving Bluetooth code execution, unauthorized access to sensitive data and apps escaping restrictions to run code with kernel privileges.
