The Nothing Phone (4a) Pro is a $499 midrange Android phone built to stand out through its aluminum design, rear dot-matrix display and unusually flexible camera system.
PCMag's review praises the handset's distinctive look and the moody character of its photos. Other hands-on reviews broadly support the design appeal while showing that the camera system has clear strengths and weaknesses.
A large phone with a useful rear display
The 4a Pro has a 6.83-inch OLED screen and an aluminum body. A circular dot-matrix display on the back can show the time, timers, notification icons and charging information. It can also act as a rough viewfinder for selfies taken with the rear cameras.
That feature continues Nothing's effort to make the back of a phone functional rather than decorative. The tradeoff is size: the screen and body make this a two-handed device for many people.
